Jewelry redesign transforms existing jewelry into a new design using some or all of the client’s materials. As each piece may differ in condition, metal purity, construction, and gemstones, all materials must be inspected before reuse.
Redesign Production Process
The process may include initial documentation and inspection, jewelry dismantling, gemstone removal and assessment, metal testing and processing, 3D design, casting, stone setting, finishing, and quality control. Not all materials from the original jewelry can always be reused. Upon receipt, each item will be documented by type, quantity, initial weight, gemstones, hallmark, and visible condition. The client must confirm that all information is accurate and declare legal ownership of the materials. Certificates or invoices may be provided when available.
Design & Production
The redesign process may include dismantling, gemstone removal, material inspection, 3D design, casting, stone setting, finishing, and quality control. The new piece is made using newly refined gold formulated to the client’s chosen purity. The original metal is not directly melted into the new jewelry. After testing and processing, its confirmed value will be recorded separately as MRSAE Metal Credit based on purity and net recoverable weight. The initial quotation is an estimate and may change after the materials are fully assessed. Any changes will be confirmed before proceeding. Minor adjustments to the design, size, proportions, or final appearance may be required due to material conditions and technical production needs.
Material Assessment
Hidden issues such as cracks, chips, wear, solder, or mixed metals may only become visible after dismantling. The initial weight is gross weight; metal purity, net weight, and reusability can only be confirmed after further inspection and testing. MRSAE may recommend material replacement or design adjustments if the original materials are unsuitable or unsafe.
Metal Credit
After testing and processing, the confirmed value of the client’s original metal will be recorded as MRSAE Metal Credit based on its purity and net recoverable weight. This credit may only be applied toward the client’s redesign order or other eligible MRSAE jewelry services, as agreed. MRSAE Metal Credit is non-refundable, non-transferable, and cannot be exchanged for cash. Its value will be stated separately in the quotation or invoice and deducted from the applicable order total.
Risks & Remaining Materials
Dismantling and resetting gemstones involve inherent risks, particularly with older or fragile materials. MRSAE may pause the process if the risk is considered too high. Material loss during production is normal. Separable gemstones or remaining metal will be returned, stored, or credited as agreed. Production residue and inseparable materials are not considered returnable remains.
